Starting Tuesday, your child will bring home his/her homework packet! There will be a weekly update on curriculum and a calendar to chart reading minutes for the week.  The packet comes home on Tuesday and returns the following Tuesday.  IF FOR ANY REASON, your child does not finish homework… please keep it at home until it can be finished by your child.  It is more important that he/she does the work. Please email or call me if you have any concerns.

Common issues with homework:

1) PROBLEM: Your child doesn’t remember how to do a certain problem… and you weren’t taught that way.

SOLUTION:  Write a note and I will reteach your child.  I can explain it to you as well over the phone or email.

2) PROBLEM: Your child refuses to complete work and it’s becoming a power struggle between the two of you.

SOLUTION:  Send the homework packet to school with a note and your child can do it at recess time.

3) PROBLEM: Your child refuses to read 20 minutes.

SOLUTION:  Use a timer to keep track of the time.  Try breaking it down into 2 smaller periods at first(or more if you need to… make a chart to keep track of the time).  Share the responsibility by you reading a page and he/she reading a page.
