Click on this link for access to AUDIBLE for free read alouds for your children. You can get early readers, elementary levels and beyond. Dan Gutman is the author of My Weirder School books, he has a book on this site called, Mission Unstoppable, which I think would interest many of our 4th graders. Anne of Green Gables is a historical fiction story about an orphan in Canada, and would be my first pick! Another high interest book for many of our 4th graders I think would be Shelter Dogs. It’s a collection of stories about pets that have been rescued. Please ask your child to look over the titles, look at the star reviews and make a selection. Then sit back and listen to the story.

Reading aloud helps children acquire early language skills. Reading aloud is widely recognized as the single most important activity leading to language development. Among other things, reading aloud builds word-sound awareness in children, a potent predictor of reading success.
