June “What’s The Scoop” winners!

Happy Summer!
At the end of the school year we made a goal we would read at least 20 minutes every day. I know some students are reading their library books, some are reading on other sites….. but the one way I can monitor their reading is if they go on Raz-kids.com. I promised I would pick 4 students at the end of each month to win $5 “What’s The Scoop” gift cards. The winners for the June drawing are:

We will have our second OPEN LIBRARY this Tuesday, June 28 from 10 am to 12 pm. This is open to all students…new and old…grades K-5.

While attending, please feel free to take down your JOYFUL LEARNER PHOTO. I will be adding new photos next year…so you are welcome to take the 2015-16 photo from the board.

Also, it’s time to remind everyone to keep their brains engaged in learning over the summer. I invite you to participate in MOBYMAX for 10-20 minutes per day (math fact fluency, reading and any other content that interests you). Also, if you would like to track your reading over the summer, this counts too. Simply log into this form once a week to tell me how many minutes per week you are reading. Summer learning contest ends on August 20.

All students who participate in summer learning will be entered into a drawing for a AMAZON GIFT CARD. These will be handed out during a pizza lunch with me!

Finally, Mrs. Vandenberg, our librarian, would love to have post photos of you reading over the summer. If you have a photo of your reading during vacation, send her the photo at jvandenb@hpseagles.net

Welcome to Second Grade!

It is always exciting for me to think about the new year!  I am sure you want to learn more about me, as I do about you.  Please take some time to explore all of the pages, posts, and links on my blog. While you are looking around, be sure to sign up for email updates by filling in your e-mail address in the subscribe by e-mail rectangle located on right side panel. Our class blog will be the site for information about school supplies, special events, pictures, curriculum, assessments, and so much more.

If you haven’t already, please sign up for email updates on the Georgetown School Blog. The school blog will provide updates all summer long about school wide events and important details about open houses and calendar dates.
